August 1, 2025 — Key Dates for College Applications

August 1: The Official Start of Application Season! 

Every year on August 1, the Common Application and the University of California (UC) Application officially open. This means:

• You can start filling out application forms

• Essay prompts, activity sections, and all key components become visible

• The college application process is officially underway!

💡Recommendations:

• Register your accounts early and complete basic info (family background, education history, etc.)

• Prepare your activity list, personal essays, and recommender invitations in advance

• While the UC system does not offer Early Action or Early Decision, it’s still best to begin writing your essays early to avoid the November rush
