UC Application Countdown: ⚠️ Do Not Wait Until 11:59 PM PST to Submit!

The DOs:

• Final Review: Two days before submission, confirm all final content with your parents and consultants. Avoid making last-minute clicks or changes in the system that might accidentally alter your data.

• Verify Personal Info: Double-check that your name, date of birth, email, phone number, address, and SSN are 100% accurate.

• Self-Reported Grades: Ensure your transcript is entered exactly as UC requires. UC relies heavily on your self-reported data rather than official transcripts to make initial decisions.

• Course Designation: Confirm whether your Honors or AP courses are officially recognized and designated correctly by UC standards.

• Activity Details: Check that activity descriptions, years of participation, and weekly hours are accurate.

• Strategic Ranking: Sort activities and awards strategically. Place your most significant achievements at the top, followed by those with high relevance to your major. For awards, clearly state the level of competition and selection criteria.

• Use the "Additional Information" Section: Utilize the Academic History - Additional Information box to explain any anomalies in your record, such as a dip in grades, inconsistencies, or unique high school grading scales.

• Final Polish: Check large blocks of text for spelling, grammar, and formal tone. Ensure that copy-pasted content has not been cut off due to word count limits.

• Future Exams: Include any upcoming AP exams you plan to take, noting the expected test dates.

• Strategic Major Selection: Research the acceptance rates for different colleges and majors. Balance your personal interest with admission difficulty. If selecting two majors, ensure there is a gradient in competitiveness between them. Determine if the campus admits by specific major or by the college as a whole.

• PDF Preview: Use the PDF preview feature to verify the final layout. Save your submission record and payment receipt.

The DON’Ts:

• Don't wait until 11:59 PM PST: Website congestion and third-party payment gateway errors are extremely common during the final hours.

• Don't rewrite your PIQs at the last minute: Avoid major thematic shifts in your Personal Insight Questions (PIQs). Focus only on micro-adjustments to make your narrative clearer and your focus sharper.

• Don't prioritize "fancy" vocabulary over clarity: UC has stated that minor typos won't sink an application, but obscure or vague language will. It is more important to clearly articulate your academic experiences and goals than to use abstract or flowery prose.

• Don't use AI: UC explicitly prohibits the use of AI in writing PIQs.

• Don't over-analyze after clicking submit: Once it's sent, let go of the anxiety. Focus on your remaining applications. A steady mindset and consistent action will lead to the best results.
